Bob Hope once agains cohosts the ceremony this time with Jimmy Stewart at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Now that WWII is finally over, the ceremonies are now far more glamourous than ever before. Plaster statuettes have been replaced (permanetley) with bronze statuettes with gold plating. Joan Crawford didn't attend the ceremony fearing she would lose. However when she won (best Actress, Mildred Pierce) her award was delivered to her in bed later that night.
