Events[]
Family Guy's very own Seth MacFarlane hosts the show for the very first (and presumably only) time. The show was rebranded to "The Oscars," and the electronic voting system for members was introduced. The Art Direction and Makeup categories have been renamed the Oscars for Best Production Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling (though for this site it shall remain as art direction and makeup for those names are easier to remember them by). The visual effects community was starting a protest outside the theatre for oppression from studios started from when Life of Pi's visual effects team's speech were cut off short by the theme from Jaws. The show include a 50th anniversary tribute to the James Bond franchise. Jeffrey Katzenbeg was given the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for leadership of enlightened philanthropy by extraordinary example. Three Honorary Oscars were given out. One to D.A. Panebaker for redefining the language of film and teaching a generation of filmmakers to look for reality in suspension, one to Hal Needham, an innovator, mentor, and master who elevated his craft into an art and made the impossible look easy, and one to George Stevens Jr., a tireless champion of the arts in America and especially that most American of arts: the Hollywood film. The Scientific Technical Award was presented to Cooke Optics Limited "for their continuing innovation in the design and development of the ARRILASER film recorder."
